Skincare Resolutions for a Glowing Skin in 2021

It is a new year. Yay!

This is the first time I am writing since the year began so let me begin by saying “Happy new year to you”.

So, how is the year coming along?

Did you begin the year with the same skin blemishes? Or is your skin not as glowing as you would like it to be?

If yes, you have to make sure that you get the skin of your dreams this year. That’s the ultimate goal. How do you do that? By making the right skincare resolutions.

What are you going to do differently this year to make sure that you get the spotless and glowing skin you want?

  1. Switch up your skincare routine

I think the first question I should be asking is if you have a skincare routine. If you do not have one, now is the time to get one.

Your skincare routine helps to protect your skin from damage during the day and helps to heal whatever damage happened to your skin at night.

If you already have a skincare routine, take time to reflect on each step of your routine, what you do, and the products you use. If there is a need for changes, make those changes now.

Make sure you do not have too many steps in your skincare routine. It might be doing more harm than good to your skin.

Your daily skincare routine should include your cleanser, toner, eye cream, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

With these products, you are good to go this year.

  1. See a dermatologist

Most of us do not have the habit of seeing a dermatologist.

The best skincare advice we get is from family and friends, which is very wrong. Make sure you go see a dermatologist this year.

A dermatologist is a doctor for your skin. With the help of your dermatologist, you can figure out while you still have that skin blemish, despite all you have done to get rid of it.

After a series of test, she will help you come up with a plan that will help treat your skin and get rid of the blemishes once and for all

You should see your dermatologist, at least, twice this year. If you do not have one yet, look for one closest to you and book an appointment.

  1. Do not buy any organic product just because it is organic

With the way organic skincare products are being made by almost everyone today, you have to be careful which products you buy.

Do not get me wrong, organic skincare products are great for your skin. They are natural and safer for your skin, that is, if they are manufactured right.

Do not just buy a product because you like the aunty selling it or because your friend used it and it worked. Check out the ingredients used in making the product. Are they organic and safe for your skin?

Some of these products are made with chemical ingredients by people who are not even skincare experts.

Know the ingredients in your organic skincare products before buying them.

  1. Pay close attention to your skin

One of the reasons why some women still have blemish-ridden skin is because they do not pay attention to their skin.

Become obsessed with your skin this year. Know your skin type. Be careful about what comes in contact with your skin. Know what causes allergies for you and ingredients that work really great for you. Take note of even the littlest change on your skin, whether good or bad.

Treat your skin special this year. Follow your skincare routine strictly and ensure that you avoid anything that can cause even the tiniest damage to your skin.

  1. More skincare, less makeup

Give priority to your skincare this year over your makeup.

I know makeup helps to enhance your beauty and leaves you looking like a million bucks. As great as that might seem, it is not good for your skin.

Makeup does not give room for your skin pores to breathe, especially makeup routines that include piling several layers of makeup on your skin.

Also, the process of applying and removing makeup can clog your skin pores and lead to the formation of skin blemishes.

So, focus more on your skincare. If possible, take a long break from makeup. If that will be hard, make sure you apply makeup just thrice in a week.

Your skin will thank you for it.

  1. Use only non-comedogenic products

Non-comedogenic products are products that do not clog your skin pores. This applies to not only your skincare products, but also your makeup products.

Make sure that whatever touches your skin does not clog your pores. Look out for the label “non-comedogenic” on your products. This is very important especially for people with oily skin and acne-prone skin.

You do not want to buy a skincare product that will make your skin worse instead of making it better.

  1. Live a skin-friendly lifestyle

After making all the necessary changes to your routine and products, you do not want to sabotage your efforts by living a lifestyle that is not healthy for your skin.

How do you live a skin-friendly lifestyle?

  • Get enough sleep. Your skin needs its beauty sleep for about 8 hours every day.
  • Stay away from anything that stresses you. After a long day, try to engage in activities that relax you like reading, watching a movie, hanging out with friends, etc.
  • Eat healthily. This is the year we say goodbye to junk foods. No more sugary foods, fried foods, processed foods, etc. Replace those with fruits and vegetables.
  • Do not sleep with your makeup on, no matter how tired you are. If you had the strength to apply it, you have the strength to remove it.
  • Wash your makeup brushes and applicators after use. They can be good breeding grounds for germs and pore-clogging substances that can lead to skin blemishes.

Bottom line…

This year can be way better than last year, especially when it comes to your skin’s health.

Try and make these changes I have suggested and watch your skin thank you for it. If you have suggestions or questions, leave a comment.

I always love to hear from you. Cheers!
